California Governor Gavin Newsom endorses Joe Biden

California Governor, and coronavirus czar, Gavin Newsom has endorsed former Vice-President Joe Biden for President of the United States. Joe Biden, and the Democratic Party et al, are continuing to coalesce around the Obama era stalwart and elder statesman. Even against the dark and dire backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the reality is this: we have less than 6 months now to get this done by November 5th, 2020.

Here is a quote and snippet from the MSN new article that caught my eye this morning while I’m having my Saturday morning coffee…

Newsom appeared in a virtual fundraiser for Biden on Friday night, with tickets for the event held on video conferencing app Zoom going for as much as $100,000.

The California governor and the former vice president both spoke during the event, which was moderated by Democratic strategist David Plouffe, who ran former President Obama’s 2008 campaign. “I’m so honored to be here with you and supporting your presidency,” Newsom told Biden during the event.

“You get it, and you’ve gotten it done over the course of decades. You’ve been on the frontlines of fighting against poverty, ignorance, and disease. You have a deep compassion and empathy, you see the world from other people’s eyes.”

Obviously, I’m 1000% against politicizing any tragedy or using people’s suffering to score cheap points but we also can’t turn a blind eye to the gross mishandling of this crisis by the Trump Administration. The Donald is the most unqualified and, now we know and see, the most incompetent elected leader to sit in the Oval. He has been more concerned with his poll numbers and his political future than protecting American lives and securing public health. He has chosen to serve and protect the economy (and rich corporate fat cats and companies by extension) over citizens and workers.

Hat tip for Gavin Newsom’s endorsement over at Microsoft News.
