Dallas Pride COVID-19 update

Dallas Pride has pushed their June celebration into the month of July. I’ve never been to Dallas Pride although I have hung out around Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs lots when I was doing Leadership Development training for FedEx Office & Print Centers. Dallas is one of those cities that does something really different and unique. Their festival is held indoors (which I think is a GREAT idea if your city is super hot in the summer) and comes with a Music Festival. Here is the copy of the official announcement we snagged from their official website:

BREAKING NEWS: Jaron Turnbow, executive director of Dallas Pride, announced today (Friday, April 3,) that the 37th annual Dallas Pride festivities have been postponed until the end of July. The Miller Lite Music Festival in the Park — including the Family Pride Zone and Teen Pride — has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 25, at Fair Park. The Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade has been rescheduled to Sunday, July 26, also in Fair Park.

I’m not versed or up to speed on the coronavirus numbers for Texas so I can’t speak definitely to this at all. I just worry that pushing this event just one month into the future is allowing enough time time to see if it will be safe or advisable for this mass gathering to happen. I guess we’ll wait and see. It’d be unfortunate if they had to move it again. Fingers crossed.
