New York’s in person pride celebrations are cancelled for 2020. They won’t have a virtual pride of their own, but will have several digital events. I know of a Drag Fest coming up (flyer posted below), and a special programming event regarding the LGBTQ+ community and its history on June 28th (one of its many flyers is the featured image above). The virtual pride they plan to attend is Global Pride (also known as InterPride), since they are one of its founding members (like San Diego).
“WABC Channel 7 will continue to support Heritage of Pride this year by broadcasting a special NYC Pride programming event in June to all communities across the NYC and tri-state area. This virtual event will shine a light on Pride month and the incredible stories of unity and strength by utilizing the powerful reach of ABC-7, the number one station in the market, and the deep connection we have with our viewers and communities,” said Debra O’Connell, WABC-TV President & General Manager. As a founding member of InterPride, the board and membership of Heritage of Pride have agreed to participate in the virtual Global Pride event on Saturday, June 27, 2020. Additionally, NYC Pride will continue to evaluate the situation and work toward creative ways to celebrate pride.See their full statement here.
