Q Christian Fellowship announces first conference keynote speaker for 2021

Q Christian Fellowship has just announced their first keynote speaker for the annual conference slated for January 7-10, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Emilie Townes will be joining the ranks of faith leaders who always headline this annual event. Dr. Townes is the Dean of the Vanderbilt University School of Divinity.

Here is some official from the announcement that went out yesterday…

We’re so excited to announce our very first Keynote Speaker for #CONF2021, Dr. Emilie M. Townes! Dr. Townes is the Dean and Carpenter Professor of Womanist Ethics and Society at Vanderbilt University Divinity School, becoming the first African American to serve as Dean of the Divinity School in 2013. She is an American Baptist clergywoman, originally from Durham, North Carolina.

As a gay person of faith, and as someone having attended one of these conferences myself a few years ago, I can definitely recommend this event. Faith and religion and worship have long been areas that have been held hostage from gay Christians. This organization and this conference are wonderful places that help facilitate healing and growth for those who have been excluded from church life. If you’d like to know about Dr. Townes and this conference then you can do so after the jump.
