Not all premixed Margaritas are the same, and by far, there’s 3 types: Those made with 100% tequila, those made with 51% tequila (looking at you, Jose Cuervo), and those made with agave wine. Tequila based margaritas often have the signature bite of tequila, which is reminiscent of a spicy herb. Agave wine on the other hand, can vary widely, but they typically have a more mellow flavor, with little to no bite. For a traditional margarita, tequila is a must. But other flavors of margaritas can seemingly benefit from agave wine, and in this case, it is the Rancho La Gloria Strawberry Margarita.
To say the least, it seems the agave wine used is high quality, and packs plenty of alcohol, giving the margarita a 13.9% abv rating. By comparison, a traditional margarita is usually 1 part tequila, which is 40% abv and 2 parts mixer, making for a margarita that is around 13.9% abv; they’re both equal in alcohol content!
