Sam’s Club, just like Costco, also makes/sells their very own Irish Whiskey (16.99+ for 750mL). Triple-distilled in Ireland, Member’s Mark Irish Whiskey is praised for being smooth, rich, and balanced, with a clean finish that makes it approachable for both newcomers and seasoned drinkers. Its texture is notably softer than Jameson, giving it a more mellow sip. I like my Whiskeys, and I am Irish, so it may come as a huge surprise that I’ve never had Jameson Irish Whiskey ($40 for 1.75 liters) until a few months ago. Known globally as the benchmark Irish whiskey, Jameson delivers a sweet, vanilla-forward profile with fruit notes and a gentle smokiness. It is smooth, but slightly sharper than Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark. The reason I’ve never really bought Jameson before? Costco. Costco’s Kirkland Irish Whiskey is a four-year-old triple-distilled spirit that offers remarkable value at around $27.99 for 1.75 liters. While high quality for its price, reviews note that its nose leans more toward raw alcohol compared to Jameson, making Jameson smoother in direct comparison. Still, Kirkland’s affordability and consistency make it a favorite for budget-conscious whiskey fans, which is why it would likely always be in stock at my place. Now if only there was a 4th, widely available Irish Whiskey I could name to complete the Irish Lucky Number 4 mantra.
