An AMF, or Adios, Mother Fucker, is a bold, bright blue drink that looks as much appealing as it is deadly. Overall, it is a citrusy drink, coming from sweet lime/lemon juice, the type of soda (Sprite, 7UP, etc), and Blue Curaçao, a citrus liqueur made from the peel of the laraha (the Curaçao orange) and dyed a brilliant blue. But what makes the drink an Adios, Mother are the 4 (5 if you count the Blue Curaçao) types of distilled spirits thrown in the mix: Vodka, Gin, Tequila and Rum.
Made properly, the taste of the drink conceals just how much it will fuck you up, possibly allowing you to make the foolish decision of ordering another one. Considering that it’s a popular club drink, it might make you willing to sing karaoke or dance like you’ve never done before. You’d be stranded at the club too, unless you Uber away or have a group of friends (with a designated driver, of course). Which is why it’s even better in the comfort of home (plus it’ll be way cheaper).
Here’s what this recipe calls for:
- 1/2 ounce vodka
- 1/2 ounce rum
- 1/2 ounce tequila
- 1/2 ounce gin
- 1/2 ounce blue curaçao
- 2 ounces sweet-and-sour mix*
- Sprite or 7up, to top
- Garnish: lemon wedge (optional)
- Garnish: preserved cherry (optional)
I would seriously recommend making this drink in a 20+ ounce glass, anything smaller and you’d only have a spit of 7up to top, after ice. You could also substitute the blue curaçao with blue curaçao syrup (which can really save some serious cash), and use Zero Sugar 7UP/Sprite to slim down the calories.
